In honor of all those who died on September 11, 2011, Pastor Preston reminded us of the First Responder that God gave to all of us when Jesus Christ was born. We were honored to have Pentagon survivor, Wayne Sinclair with us to share his story of survival through the tragedy that happened in our nation's capital. Hancock Sheriff, T.J. Buzkirk was also with us to honor the memory of all the first responders who so willingly put themselves in harms way to save those who were caught in the aftermath of the attacks in New York, Washington D.C. and Pennsylvania. The choir also presented several Patriotic Songs in remembrance of the day that changed our country forever.
Pastor Preston reminded us that "Jesus was Mankind's First-Responder". Jesus saw our hopelessness. He was moved into action. He saved us from death. How great a God we serve that He loved us enough to send His only son to bless us with the grace to live victoriously.
Turkey decoys were scattered about here and there on the stage this morning as Tracy Groves illustrated his sermon. He spoke of stripping away all the things that would hinder us from our Christian walk, as he stripped from his crisp black suit down to his woodland camo. His turkey calls were answered by a gobbler in the sound room and the baptistry behind the stage. The gobbler then dared to fan his tail a little to close. Tracy was ready with his eye trained down the barrell of his shotgun as he steadied himself against a tree, (which was a young volunteer from the congregation). People jumped at the shotgun blast, the turkey fan fluttered and a rubber chicken resulted. Tracy got his message across that we are all called for a purpose...to build His kingdom.
