The youth group, Tripped Up, ran the service this evening led by Pastor Jamie. That's not to say the youth weren't involved. They ministered through a human video, to Josh Wilson's "I Refuse", and 2 skits. Then during the song worship, God stepped in and took over. Pastor Jamie gave an abbriviated version of his message "The Storms of Life". "Sometimes you need Jesus to step in and calm the storms of life". “Awesome! Amazing!” says Jenna of TrippedUp? Youth, describing The Merger. Another says “funtastic!” The night started with some games and dramas by TrippedUp? Youth. Then brad and rebekah led the worship before Stephen Michael Leach preached. Brett a Life House West Youth Leader of The Edge remarked “Jesus showed up and blessed.” Antrim AG youth leader Chris described a scene that really struck him of a group of youth huddled together at the altar discovering Christian bonding as a source of strength.
brad&rebekah popular contemporary worship leaders (and band) that performed at last years youth convention, led the worship at The Merger. Youth streamed to the altars with hands raised and jumping in worship. Stephen Michael Leach a long time TU? favorite preached and gave the altar call in the old Pentecostal fashion. Youth everywhere kneeled in prayer lingering in God’s presence.
Long time youth leader Jamie Morris became the official youth pastor of Tripped Up youth group as he has recently recieved his credentials from Assemblies of God and a ceremony was performed today installing him as such. Then Pastor Preston proceeded with a related message, "The Making of a Leader", referencing 2 Timothy 2:1-13.
The youth had the service tonight as they raise support for Speed the Light. A human video was performed and TrippedUp? led the worship service. There was a STL video and Pastor Jam finished up with message about a person's circle of influence is a unique mission field. The Spirit moved and lives were touched. Pastor Preston and Steve stood by ready with fire extinguishers to put out the candles' blaze. Pastor Jam celebrated forty years young on Saturday night with family and friends. The evening started with taps to go along with the black decorations. Laughter could be heard as everybody watched a slide presentation reminiscing the seventies and celebrating Jamie's past fourty years. Happy 40th!
On August 2, 2010 Pastor Jamie and crew from the Tripped Up Youth began to move into the Nazarene Church Camp in Needmore, PA. Good weather was on hand as campers picked out cabins and unloaded sound equipment into the outdoor chapel. Anticipation and excitement was in the air as everyone looked forward to the Extreme Encounter youth camp activities and worship services.
Campers will began arriving Tuesday afternoon. The Spirit moved Tuesday Evening at the "getting to know Pastor Steven" pizza eat.
Wednesday arrived with a Paintball challenge, digging in the sand, moving mazes, carrying mattresses, a crazy heat index, Bible games and did I mention it was hot? Camp doesn't stop there. Extreme Encounter is the thing that happens when young people come face to face with the power of God in their lives. Missionary Stephen Michael Leach drove three hours to preach but he said the good thing about God's word is that it will keep. There is no expiration date. He did not get to preach as the youth came under the power of the Holy Spirit. Alters was full of the sound of young people weeping and praying in tongues.
Thursday evening Missionary Stephen Michael Leach spoke about the enemy breaks us down until we don't even know who we are. He steals our identity. The highlight of the morning services have been "Life Stories" as campers and counselors alike tell of how they found their identity in Christ. It is not pleasant hearing about the terrible things that have happened to people but it is encouraging to see how God has brought them out of it or through it. He is a life changer!
The scripture: "It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer", came to mind at the last evening service of Extreme Encounter Youth Camp. The day was filled with flying water balloons, buckets of water, and soaked campers. The evening service was filled with worship, dramas, and testimonies...but it seemed as if everybody was eager to get back to the altar and spend time in prayer with the God they love. When youth stay up late, play in the hot sun all day and still come to service eager to dig in at the altar, it does a heart good to witness. It is good to know... as campers pack up toothbrushes, stinky clothes, and wet towels on Saturday, that they will be taking with them something else far more valuable!
